Westchester Land Trust has protected many preserves with trails that are readily accessible to the public year round and free of charge. Enjoy meadows, forests, wetlands, scenic vistas, and the natural beauty that makes Westchester and Putnam counties a special place to live.
Please stay on the trails and report anything that needs attention to info@westchesterlandtrust.org or 914-234-6992 ext. 16. Easy, moderate, and challenging trails are available throughout WLT’s service area. So get out there and enjoy the land!

Preserve Guidelines
Help us keep our preserves safe for everyone by respecting the land, wildlife, plants, and people.
- Stay on the trails
- Do not disturb or remove plants, wildlife, soil, or rocks
- Be considerate of other visitors
- Plan ahead and prepare for unexpected weather
- Dogs must be leashed at all times
- Dispose of all waste properly
- Practice Leave No Trace principles
- We do not allow motorized vehicles or bikes, foraging, hunting, trapping, firearms, camping, or fires
- Swimming is not permitted in any waterbody on WLT preserves. For your safety and the protection of sensitive habitat, do not stray from established trails and avoid rivers and streams, wetlands, and ephemeral waterbodies that may be muddy, slippery, or otherwise dangerous for you and wildlife.
- Report any problems to info@westchesterlandtrust.org or 914-234-6992 ext. 16
To inquire about conducting programming on any of our preserves, contact Janelle Robbins at janelle@westchesterlandtrust.org or 914-234-6992 ext. 16.
Are you interested in hosting a private hike, tour, or other special event on one of our preserves?
Use this form to apply to host a private hike, tour, or other special event on one of our preserves. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted at least one month prior to your proposed event. This form will help us schedule stewardship activities, ensure that the preserve and trails are currently open, that there’s sufficient parking for your group, and to make sure there aren’t any competing outings on your special day.
Please note that none of our preserves have restrooms, trash cans, or dumpsters. We practice Leave No Trace Principles and ask you do the same.
If you are granted use of a preserve for your event, you will need to provide proof of insurance and list Westchester Land Trust as an additional insured party on your policy for the day.
If you are interested in a corporate stewardship volunteer event, use this form instead.

Westchester Land Trust promotes Leave No Trace Principles. We encourage you to practice these principles at our Preserves and beyond.
