Bedford Hills, NY—Westchester Land Trust (WLT), a nationally accredited land conservation organization headquartered in Bedford Hills, NY, announced David Ansel of Harrison, NY has joined its Board of Directors. Mr. Ansel will support WLT in its efforts to protect and steward land, strengthen local food systems, and increase access to open space in local communities.
“David is a tremendous addition to our leadership team and we are pleased to welcome him to WLT,” said Bruce Churchill, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “He possesses a wide range of legal and environmental knowledge, and his particular interest in water quality will help guide our work and expand our impact in Westchester and eastern Putnam counties.”
Mr. Ansel lives in Harrison, NY with his wife and children. He recently retired as partner in the corporate department of the law firm Loeb & Loeb LLP. Mr. Ansel represented private equity funds and real estate companies in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other partnership agreements. He currently serves the Waterkeeper Alliance as a Trustee and outside counsel, and previously served on the Hudson Riverkeeper Board and several committees at the JCC of Harrison.
Mr. Ansel was also a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Law School for several years, teaching courses on corporate transactional law.
“I’m impressed with the important work that Westchester Land Trust champions and have been taking time to explore some of its scenic nature preserves,” Mr. Ansel said. “I think it is important to have strong organizations protecting land in densely populated areas to ensure that the natural spaces that sustain our communities remain intact and protected. I’m honored to have been elected to the Land Trust’s Board and I’m looking forward to digging into this work and contributing in any way I can.”
Mr. Ansel will be working alongside other members of WLT’s Board of Directors and Advisory Board and staff to advance land acquisitions and provide guidance and input on conservation real estate transactions as part of the organization’s Land Protection and Governance Committees.
