Zofnass Family Preserve is a beloved destination with an intricate trail system that brings visitors through wetlands, rocky outcrops, and mixed hardwood forest. You truly feel like you’re in the back country when you’re in the preserve. Come along with Preserve Manager Ben and Conservation Technician Stella as we work to maintain the trail system. Learn how to fix common trail issues, connect with the preserve on a deeper level, and work towards sustaining a treasured community resource with WLT’s dedicated staff.

  • Day + Time: Thursday, August 14, 9am–12pm, rain or shine
  • Getting There + Parking: Parking is in the Upper Shad parking lot, available here (41.175853, -73.599266). Carpooling is encouraged.
  • Hiking distances will vary between 1 and 5 miles depending on tasks and trail conditions. Trail conditions include steep inclines, bare rock, steps, and stream crossings. Tools and light snacks will be provided. No prior trail maintenance experience needed!
  • Safety: Please wear long pants, long sleeves, and close-toed shoes to the volunteer event, and consider dressing in layers and bringing a water bottle. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
