Active Red Flag Warnings

Due to continued drought, low humidity, and gusty winds, WLT is suspending all mowing and use of power equipment at our preserves out of an abundance of caution to prevent forest fires. Please take extra care—do not have outdoor bonfires, use extreme caution when handling ignition sources, and maintain vehicles to prevent stray sparks. If you notice a fire, however small, please immediately report it to the local fire department. There are several brush fires in New York and Connecticut, with smoke moving into our region. Thank you for your patience.

Westchester Land Trust has protected many preserves with trails that are readily accessible to the public year round and free of charge. Enjoy meadows, forests, wetlands, scenic vistas, and the natural beauty that makes Westchester and Putnam counties a special place to live.

Please stay on the trails and report anything that needs attention to info@westchesterlandtrust.org or 914-234-6992 ext. 16. Easy, moderate, and challenging trails are available throughout WLT’s service area. So get out there and enjoy the land!

Are you interested in hosting a private hike, tour, or other special event on one of our preserves?

Expand Expand

Use this form to apply to host a private hike, tour, or other special event on one of our preserves. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted at least one month prior to your proposed event. This form will help us schedule stewardship activities, ensure that the preserve and trails are currently open, that there’s sufficient parking for your group, and to make sure there aren’t any competing outings on your special day.

Please note that none of our preserves have restrooms, trash cans, or dumpsters. We practice Leave No Trace Principles and ask you do the same.

If you are granted use of a preserve for your event, you will need to provide proof of insurance and list Westchester Land Trust as an additional insured party on your policy for the day.

If you are interested in a corporate stewardship volunteer event, use this form instead.
