Buttonbush Preserve, located in the Town of Cortlandt, is approximately 140 acres of forested wetland habitat in a recognized conservation corridor. The preserve’s varied topography supports a diverse range of habitats and, once opened, will provide the public with the opportunity to explore and enjoy the landscape through many hiking trails.
Decades ago, Buttonbush Preserve was home to a camp, with cabins scattered across the hillside. Remnants of this former use can still be found throughout the preserve today. In preparation for opening the preserve to the public, WLT’s stewardship staff and volunteers have been working to remove debris and restore the property.
