Sugar Hill Farm

Sugar Hill Farm has served as the headquarters of Westchester Land Trust since 2007. It features a 19th-century farmhouse that hosts the organization’s offices, a small food pantry garden, two affordable housing units, a meadow, and woodlands.

As the central hub of Westchester Land Trust’s operations, Sugar Hill Farm welcomes visitors to visit the property to learn more about land protection, stewardship, and sustainable farming. The bustling meadow along Harris Road provides habitat for pollinators, and a small woodland at the rear of the property supports local wildlife like white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and various raptors. A short trail is part of the Bedford Riding Lanes Association network. The on-site farm grows more than 8,000 servings of fresh, organic produce annually for neighbors experiencing food insecurity. Hundreds of volunteers work each year to grow, harvest, and weigh food that is distributed to local food pantries.

The Sugar Hill Farm property was generously donated to Westchester Land Trust by the neighboring Nickell and Schwartz families. It was previously owned by Jean Tilt, who resided there until her death. Mrs. Tilt was an avid equestrian and gardener.
