Are you ready to save baby trees so they can grow big and strong? Ben Kleist, preserve manager, will lead the group in this second session at Hunter Brook in planting and protecting native trees to replace trees lost to storms, pests and disease, and deer browse to give this favorite forest a chance to recover.

  • Day + Time: Saturday, October 26, 1–3pm
  • Getting There + Parking: Park along Beekman Court or in the small parking area at (41.269833, -73.842580). Carpooling is always an excellent idea.
  • Difficulty: Easy—suitable for ages 8 and up; minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. About two miles of hiking should be expected.
  • Safety: We will be working mostly off trail, conditions are expected to be dry. Most of this preserve is forested with flat areas and a few gentle slopes. There are some plants with thorns and there may be ticks and poison ivy. The best way to prevent these hazards is wearing appropriate clothing—closed-toed shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Please bring a water bottle. Light snacks, work gloves, and tools will be provided.
  • Registration Required: Register here.

Volunteer group size capped at 12; no drop-ins please.

This event is part of our ongoing forest health initiative, which was launched to help ensure the forests you love are here for generations to come. Read the press release announcing this effort here. You can save our forests—donate here to support this work.
